Sumud – the Finnish Palestine Network was established in June 2023. During its first two years the organization has worked actively and effectively for ending Israeli apartheid, occupation, colonialism and genocide and for the realisation of Palestinian human and political rights. Check out Sumud’s annual report 2023-2024!
Established in June 2023, the organisation started work in October 2023 in response to the escalating situation in Gaza, and quickly became the most prominent Palestine solidarity organisation in Finland. By the end of 2024, the organization had grown to nearly 700 members, with dozens of activists engaging in Sumud’s campaigns, events, and local groups across Finland.
In 2023 and 2024, Sumud organized over a hundred events, spreading awareness and demanding that the Finnish government take action to ensure a rights-based and decolonial future for Palestine, and started longer campaigns. Sumud became a prominent voice for Palestinian rights on social media and started advocacy work aimed at influencing policymakers.
The impact of Sumud’s determined and decolonial approach is evident: volunteers are eager to be part of a community fighting for human rights, and the organization has already received three recognitions for its work.
