Turku: Granny Squares for Gaza Events

Granny Squares for Gaza children is a community art project organised by Turku with Palestine that aims to honor the victims of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, by creating a powerful visual of the extent of lost lives. The official number of palestinian children martyred since October 2023 is estimated to be around 20 000, with many more still missing under the rubble. One single square represents 10 children murdered by Israel.

The community art installation will be exposed as part of Community Point Mustikka’s 20 years anniversary art exhibition from 8th to 12th September. The exhibition opening is on Monday 8th at 5pm, and at the same time there will be the possibility to join the project by participating in the workshop held in the same space. Address: Kardinaalinkatu 3 P 151, Halinen.

The same week, the installation will be exhibited during the Koroisten Kyläjuhlat (Koroinen Café, Koroistentie 2) on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September. On both days will be possible to participate in our workshop from 12 to 3pm.

Both events will be featuring plenty of art, music and activities, so show up and enjoy the sense of community!
