Lecture: Academic Boycott of Israel – Why, How and Why Now?

The Equity team and GloseNet of the University of Jyväskylä will organise a guest lecture “Academic Boycott of Israel – Why, How and Why Now?” on Friday, April 25, at 2-4:30 p.m. The event will be held at the first floor lobby of Ruusupuisto campus at the University of Jyväskylä (Alvar Aallon katu 9) and the lecture will also be streamed online.

The guest speaker is Syksy Räsänen, the co-chair of Sumud, former chair of ICAHD Finland, and author of Israelin Apartheid. The lecture will address the involvement of Israeli universities in colonialism, apartheid and occupation. It will discuss the background and demands of the academic boycott call, and compare it to the academic boycotts of South Africa and Russia.

The lecture will be followed by a round table discussion with researchers and activists sharing their diverse perspectives.

The event is finished.
