Jyväskylä: Food is not a weapon -demonstration

Free Palestine Jyväskylä and Sumud Jyväskylä will organise a Food is not a weapon -demonstration on Nakba Day, Thursday, May 15 at 5 pm at Kompassi Jyväskylä.

May 15th marks Nakba Day. In 1948 Palestinians were forcibly displaced. What began as a catastrophe has never ended. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were deprived of their right to their own homes then, and today, generations later, the Palestinians of Gaza face famine and bombardment under a total blockade.

Israel prevents food, water and medicine from entering Gaza. Since 2008, Israel has controlled Gaza’s food supply. Since March 2025, the blockade has been complete: Civilians are starving to death. In over 15 months of Israel’s assault, more than 50, 000 Palestinians have been murdered, including tens of thousands of children. Nearly two million have been displaced into starvation, rubble, and despair.

This is not only history repeating itself – this is a violent continuation of it. Join us in remembering the beginning of the Palestinian displacement on Thursday, May 15, at Kompassi, Jyväskylä.

End the genocide. End the blockade. End the occupation.
