Helsinki: Mother’s Day march for Palestine
Doula-akatemia, KAMPA, Finnish-Arab Friendship Society, Palestinian Community in Finland and Health Workers for Palestine Finland will organise a march for Palestine on the eve of Mother’s Day, on Saturday, May 10. The march will gather at 3 pm in Central Railway Square and move to the Parliament House via Mikonkatu, Aleksanterinkatu and Mannerheimintie. The march will remember parents who have lost their children and children who have lost their parents, demonstrate and demand safe childbirth and protection of families in Gaza.
You may bring Mother’s Day flowers to the march in memory of mothers who have died. Children and adults can carry stuffed animals in their arms. Those who wish can carry small bodies wrapped in white cloth (e.g., a doll or a bundle of clothes). We will lay all of these on the steps of the Parliament House at the end of the march.
At the Parliament House, there will be a few speeches, singing together, and small activities for children. The event will end no later than 5 pm.
We are looking forward to seeing individuals and organizations working for and with pregnant and birthing people and families with babies to show their solidarity for Palestinians.
