Bashar Murkus and Khulood Basel – Khashabi Theatre:YES DADDY
There’s a knock on the door of a man living with memory loss. A young male escort arrives, but the older man has no recollection of hiring one. He thinks his long-lost son has returned.
Transporting the audience into a multidimensional realm, Palestinian Khashabi Theatre’s YES DADDY حاضر يا أبيexamines forgetting, loneliness, and the human need for contact. Two men of differing ages meet for one night. What happens when no one is watching, and we are left at each other’s mercy? Has the truth any meaning if a lie brings comfort?
This thought-provoking work featured at Festival d’Avignon in the summer of 2025. On stage, Makram J. Khoury and Anan Abu Jabir create a nuanced performance whose tension remains long after the performance has finished.
